ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014 Definition
ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014 is a company-level certification based on the Electrostatic Discharge Association's (ESDA) standard titled, "Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts, Assemblies and Equipment (Excluding Electrically Initiated Explosive Devices)". This standard provides guidelines for developing and maintaining ESD control in order to protect any parts or equipment prone to the risk of high electrostatic discharge.
This certification is intended for companies that design, manufacture, package, test, and/or handle electronic devices or equipment. ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014 revises ANSI/ESD S20.20-2007 and has been updated to include new requirements for CDM (charge device models), isolated conductors, and process required insulators as well as new testing requirements for personnel grounding equipment.
Certifications are issued by third party certifying bodies authorized by ESDA; a complete list of these bodies is available on the esda.org website. Organizations must undergo annual audits in order to maintain their certification.
