Other Certification/Registration IPC Definitions
IPC is a trade association and source for industry standards, training, market research and public policy advocacy for the global electronics industry. IPC members include companies that manufacture, use, design and specify printed circuit boards and assemblies in industries such as advanced microelectronics, aerospace, military, automotive, computer and telecommunications. The association is comprised of councils and committees dedicated to specific areas such as PCBs, Solder and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS); these councils set their own agenda, goals and member deliverables. IPC committees are voluntary and are made up of subject matter experts. These committees develop IPC standards that describe best practices for the electronics industry and contain information applicable throughout the supply chain from incoming materials to final electronic assemblies. There are currently more than 225 active standards in the IPC collection. IPC standards are used in "train the trainer" programs where IPC authorized training centers train an individual on the criteria of the standard, assuring an individual's understanding of the standard. That individual becomes certified and can then return to their company and train their own employees.
